ROMA 1960 - POP Swatch Rome Olympics

€115.00

MINT CONDITION / NEVER USED

1994 vintage Pop Swatch "Roma 1960”

This piece belongs to the highly sought-after Historical Olympic Games Collection released ahead of the Atlanta 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. This specific model honors the legacy of the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy.

Key Design Features

  • The Capitoline Wolf Dial: The central design of the dial replicates the official emblem of the 1960 Rome Olympics—featuring the iconic silhouette of the Capitoline Wolf (Lupa Capitolina) nursing the mythical twins Romulus and Remus. The artwork is layered under the multicolored interlocking Olympic rings.

  • The Pop System: As a classic Pop Swatch variant, the main 32mm watch capsule is designed to easily pop completely out of its plastic bezel frame. This allowed 90s wearers to clip the watch head onto clothing, backpacks, or switch it onto different colored bands.

  • Case & Dial Rings: A dark smoky-translucent plastic framing bezel fitted with mismatched bright neon hands (hot coral-red hour/minute hands and a neon yellow seconds indicator). The dial ring reads the French event title: "Jeux de la XVII Olympiade".

  • The Graphic Fabric Strap: The thick woven fabric strap is decorated in alternating blocks of sky blue and deep chocolate brown. It is explicitly emblazoned with the event details alongside bold roman numerals reading ROMA MCMLX.
